Is it just me, or is youtube a slow, laggy buffer-fest as of late? For most videos, I can't watch more than 3 seconds worth of clip before the video pauses for more buffering. Happens at home, at work, on the laptop, on the appletv, etc.. Frustrating! |

Not much progress, huh? 18 days without an post. Well, slight progress has been made: canvases+paint+gesso bought. I just need some sandpaper and a painting area set up and it's game time. First attempt will probably be a stylized portrait of Keira Knightly, mostly because her face is 99% bone and I can sketch out her jawline with a ruler.
Will update again soon! |

| | nostalgic | ] | In an effort to actually pick up my old art habit, I've decided to repurpose this LJ as a progress-tracker for whatever drawing/painting I'm currently working on. Hopefully, it'll keep me motivated as I try to regain my high-school level abilities that have decayed for the past 8 years.
My long-term goal is to do a near lifesize (maybe 6' x 8') self-portrait of me having a breakdance battle with Abraham Lincoln in a "You Got Served"-type environment, but I have to start small. The current short-term goals are to regain oil painting technique on smaller (1' x 1.5') type canvases, and studying various anatomy-for-artists books. Word among historians has it that old Abe was one ripped mofo, and I wouldn't want to insult him by portraying his figure as anything less than Adonis-like.
Note to self: a Colbert-esque painting of me standing in front of a painting of me standing in front of a painting of me would also be a great piece to hang on the living room wall.
Also, test to see if I can link images from my new flickr account (which hopefully will contain progress photos at some point):

(will this static link always work?) |
